MTV Unplugged (1993) — featuring a hit cover of "Because the Night" — sold over four million copies. After Merchant's 1993 departure, violist and vocalist Mary Ramsey stepped in as lead singer; Love Among the Ruins (1997, Geffen) featured "More Than This," the band's highest-charting single at Billboard number 24. Guitarist Robert Buck died in 2000. The current lineup — led by Drew, Gustafson, Augustyniak, Ramsey, and guitarist Jeff Erickson — continues performing and recording.
