About Cardinals - Band

Cardinals are a five-piece indie rock band from Cork, Ireland, built around brothers Euan and Finn Manning, their cousin Darragh and childhood friends Oskar and Aaron, all originally from the coastal town of Kinsale. Signed to So Young Records, they built their reputation across 2024 and 2025 through relentless touring, sharing stages with Fontaines D.C. at Finsbury Park, Wunderhorse in Dublin and the Pogues in Boston. Their sound pairs atmospheric, jangling guitars with Finn's accordion, drawing comparisons to Echo and the Bunnymen and Yo La Tengo, and Rolling Stone UK has described them as set on writing future classics. Their debut album Masquerade, recorded at RAK Studios in London, arrived in February 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions about Cardinals - Band

When is Cardinals - Band's next tour?

2026 has been a heavily booked year. A UK and Ireland headline run filled March, opening at the Ulster Sports Club in Belfast on the 5th and continuing through St Luke's in Cork, the Workman's Club in Dublin, The Exchange in Bristol, The Garage in London, YES in Manchester, The Grove in Newcastle and King Tut's in Glasgow on the 15th. United States festival appearances followed, including Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City in May and Riot Fest in Chicago.

What is Masquerade?

It is the band's debut album, released on 13 February 2026 through So Young Records and recorded at RAK Studios in London. The record is deliberately structured around a brighter A-side and a darker, grittier B-side, a nod to the members' shared love of vinyl, and draws on influences stretching from Townes Van Zandt to Nine Inch Nails, Iceage and Type O Negative. Themes of religion run throughout, shaped by growing up during Ireland's shift toward secularism. "Barbed Wire" preceded the release, and closing track "As I Breathe" was written just a week before recording began.

Who is in Cardinals - Band?

The band is a family-and-friends affair. Euan Manning sings and writes the lyrics, his brother Finn plays accordion, giving the group its most distinctive textural signature, and their cousin Darragh completes the family connection alongside childhood friends Oskar and Aaron. The five grew up together in Kinsale before relocating to Cork, where they helped build a DIY scene of their own.
