In the 1990s, El Tri expanded into the United States — releasing the landmark concert film En Vivo Desde el Hollywood Palladium and selling out the LA Memorial Sports Arena and the Olympic Auditorium — and in 1995 recorded one of the first Rock en Español MTV Unplugged sessions. Classic anthems "Metro Balderas," "Triste Canción," "Piedras Rodantes," "Oye Cantinero," and "ADO" are among the most beloved songs in Mexican popular culture. With over five decades of recording and touring, El Tri — led always by Alex Lora and his wife Chela Lora — remain a living testament to rock and roll as working-class protest, community, and joy.
