Fat Dog are an English post-punk and electro-punk band formed in 2020 in South East London during the COVID-19 lockdowns by frontman Joe Love, who began writing songs at home after being fired from his previous band. The band's name originated from an Instagram account Love ran called @fatdogsandcats, where he reviewed overweight pets. The current lineup consists of Joe Love (vocals), Chris Hughes (synth), Morgan Wallace (saxophone), and Ellis D (drums), who replaced original drummer Johnny "Doghead" Hutch — known for performing every gig wearing a latex dog mask — in late 2024. Prior to releasing any music, the band built a devoted following through frenetic and chaotic live performances, with NME naming them "2023's wildest live band." They opened for Viagra Boys and Yard Act and sold out the Scala on their debut headline tour before signing to Domino Recording Company in 2023. Their debut single "King of the Slugs" — a seven-minute punk-techno track co-produced with James Ford — was released in August 2023. Their debut album WOOF., produced by James Ford and released on September 6, 2024, blends electro-punk, industrial pop, techno, and rave euphoria and was named part of DIY Magazine's Class of 2024. The band made their US debut at South by Southwest in 2024.
