Guttermouth formed in Huntington Beach, California in 1989, and spent the next three decades playing fast, sarcastic punk rock out of the Orange County scene. The band grew up on the Los Angeles and Orange County punk of the previous decade, the Adolescents, the Vandals, Social Distortion, the Descendents, Bad Religion, and Black Flag among them, and built a style around rapid tempos and a deadpan sense of humor. Their second album, Friendly People, was the very first release on Nitro Records, the label Dexter Holland of The Offspring started in the wake of Smash. Nine studio albums followed across labels including Dr. Strange, Hopeless, Nitro, Epitaph, and Volcom. Mark Adkins has fronted the band throughout.
