About Home Alone - Film

Home Alone in Concert presents the 1990 holiday classic on a full cinema screen while a live symphony orchestra performs John Williams' score in sync with the picture. Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old accidentally left behind when his family leaves for Christmas vacation, who must defend his home against two bungling thieves played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, with Catherine O'Hara and John Candy also in the cast. Nominated for two Academy Awards, for Best Original Score and Best Original Song, the concert format has been a seasonal favourite with orchestras worldwide since its 2013 debut.

Frequently Asked Questions about Home Alone - Film

What is Home Alone in Concert?

The complete film is screened while an orchestra — and in some presentations a chorus — performs Williams' score live to picture. Williams himself has said he took great pleasure in composing it and is especially delighted to hear it performed live. The format is presented by arrangement with 20th Century Studios.

Where can I see Home Alone in Concert?

Performances run through the 2026 holiday season across North America and the UK, with orchestras including the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Wilmington Symphony and the Orchestra of Opera North in Leeds, plus UK dates in Sheffield, Derby, Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham. Chicago Philharmonic presents the sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, on December 19.

Where should I sit and what should I know?

Seating higher in the house gives the clearest view of the screen; seats closer to the front put you nearer the orchestra. Some venues do not admit latecomers once the screening begins, since the performance is locked to the picture — arrive with time to spare. The presentation is family friendly, with children typically admitted from age two.
