Who is Greta Van Fleet?

Back in 2012, Greta Van Fleet was formed after some artists were invited to perform at a festival in their hometown in Michigan. Ever since the performance, they became a band and from there every thing became history.

Over the years, Greta Van Fleet have earned four Grammy Award nominations ranging from Best Rock Album to Best New Artist. While their musical journey draws inspiration from legendary figures like Led Zeppelin, they have managed to carve out a unique identity in the music industry.

Greta Van Fleet Members

Starting out the band were the Kiszka brothers: Josh (vocals) and Jake (guitar), alongside Sam (bass guitar, keyboards), and their childhood friend Danny Wagner (drums).

Josh Kiszka (23 April 1996), who has a high-pitched solid voice like Robert Plant, is the lead vocalist and frontman for the group and keep the audience attention glued to the band.

His brother Jake Kiszka(23 April 1996) also shares this kind of presence with fantastic guitar skills. Jake, who has been inseparable from his guitar since he was three, combines complexity and sheer force into creating riffs that show talents far beyond his years.

Sam Kiszka(3 April 1999), the youngest among them, alternates between playing bass and keyboard, adding depth through his musical skills while doing backup vocals.

In 2013, Danny Wagner (29 December 1998) was added to the lineup after joining them on drums.

Hit Songs

Highway Tune (2017)

From their debut EP Black Smoke Rising, “Highway Tune” took the rock music scene by storm in 2017. While the title might sound a bit misleading, the track is in fact a love song.

Since its release, the song has topped the chart for the Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart and achieved platinum certification in Canada. Even during the 2020s, the track retained its status as the band’s most successful hit single. The track was already setting them on a path to stardom even before pronouncing their formation as a band.

Meeting The Master (2023)

Greta Van Fleet redefined the face of rock music with their hit single, “Meeting The Master,” which is taken off their third album STARCATCHER, released on April 7th, 2023. This marks another significant step in their career where they have always pushed boundaries by exploring more profound existential themes.

Crafted during their 2022 album sessions, fans have been waiting for “Meeting The Master” ever since the band gave sneak peeks of this masterpiece during their "Dreams in Gold Tour" in March 2023. A month later, fans finally got to enjoy the full song in their third album - STARCATCHER.

SNL Greta Van Fleet: The Meme

In 2019, Greta Van Fleet made an appearance on Saturday Night Live(SNL). They were one of the very few rock groups that performed at SNL since 2017.

They performed “Black Smoke Rising” from their debut EP Black Smoke Rising and “You’re The One” from their debut studio album Anthem Of The Peaceful Army.

The “You’re The One” performance, specifically Josh Kiszka’s movements, went viral in 2021 as people started making parodies and duets on TikTok.

With the prolonged period of social distancing and remote working, the meme much-needed comedic relief.
