About JJ Lin
JJ Lin (Chinese: 林俊杰, aka Wayne Lim Junjie), is a Singaporean singer, songwriter, record producer, author, and entrepreneur. Born March 27, 1981, in Singapore to a Hokkien-Chinese family, Lin has emerged as one of Mandarin-language popular music's (Mandopop) most important new artists. His musical career began in 2003 with the release of his debut album Music Voyager.
Biography and Childhood
Lin's education included studies at Jing Shan Primary School, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), and Saint Andrew's Junior College. As with all male Singaporean citizens, he completed mandatory National Service before pursuing his music career. He had some musical talent in his school years. Later he perfected those skills at the Very Singers Training Course at the Ocean Butterflies Music Forest, working as a backup vocalist and songwriter for other artists before embarking on his solo career.
His family is very business-oriented. His grandfather ran a maritime transport company; his father has a telecommunications business. His mother has a background in Chinese classical music and has a chain of family karaoke venues. Lin developed his artistic style in large part based on her musical background.
Musical Achievements
Lin JJ is famous for his very particular style of music that mixes traditional Chinese and modern pop and R&B. He has many bestselling albums to his discography.
No. 89757 (2005) demonstrated its rising popularity, selling over 1.5 million copies in its first three months. His follow-up album Cao Cao (2006) surpassed this success, reaching 2 million copies sold in just two weeks. The album She Says (2011) further cemented his status in Asian music, earning him a prestigious Golden Melody Award.
The Golden Melody Awards, often called the "Grammys of Chinese music," have recognized Lin's talent multiple times. In 2004 he won Best New Artist and Best Mandarin Male Singer twice, in 2016 and 2018.
As a songwriter, Lin has worked on hits for Asian artists. His compositions include "Remember" performed by A-Mei (one of Asia's leading female vocalists) and "Let Go" performed by A-Do.
Activities Outside Music

He also participated in "The Giving of Love," a major charitable event broadcast on China Central Television (CCTV), China's primary state television network.
In the business world, Lin co-founded Still Moving Under Gunfire (SMG) a lifestyle brand that mixes streetwear fashion with musical influences. It’s a brand that reveals his interest in merging different creative industries.
