Mexican music showcases a captivating fusion of melodious trumpets, percussion instruments, and diverse musical traditions. Spearheading the future for emerging Mexican artists is none other than the king of Corrido, Peso Pluma.
From Mariachi bands to pop singers the rich cultural and musical heritage of Mexico has always shone far across the world. The 24-year-old Peso Pluma now reigns the scene with one hit song after another. Since his debut in 2020, the young star has bridged the gap between Mexican music and Hip Hop.
Peso Pluma’s real name Hassan Emilio Kabande Lajia, challenged to make a mark in the industry by elevating the decades-old Mexican genre to new international heights. He has brought back corridos tumbados, a regional Mexican style rooted in elements of Sinaloa-style corridos belicos with his raspy vocals as a proud Mexican.
Adorned as the Rookie of the Year in 2023, he strategically pursued global recognition by engaging in cross-genre collaborations. He joined forces with Colombian hit maker Ovy on the Drums for the track "El Hechizo," collaborated with Argentine rapper Nicki Nicole on the remix of "Por Las Noches," and teamed up with Mexican reggaetón artist Yng Lvcas for the remix of "La Bebe."

His Rise to Fame

His songs seamlessly transitioned from a viral TikTok song back in March 2023 and became a massive hit on radio and streaming platforms. It stood at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the highest ranking ever for a regional Mexican song by dominating the Billboard Global 200 chart.
Since then only going stronger, Peso Pluma continued to make waves by joining Becky G during her Coachella set in April with the catchy duet "Chanel" and later performed at the Latin American Music Awards.
In late April, he achieved a historic milestone of being the first regional Mexican artist to perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with his hit "Ella Baila Sola."
Proving his talent to speak through music, by June 29, Pluma released his third album "Génesi.’ The LP showcases his chart-topping hits, including "PRC" featuring Natanael Cano, "Rosa Pastel" with Jasiel Nuñez, and "Lady Gaga" featuring Gabito Ballesteros and Junior H. The 14-track compilation charted new records by debuting at number 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Stacking more music milestones in his career, he became the first Mexican artist to grace the MTV Video Music Awards stage, bagged eight awards at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, and secured a Grammy nomination for his third album, Génesis, in the Best Mexican Music Album category, further solidifying his place among the industry's elite.
Peso Pluma is now breaking the language barrier and redefining the pop genre by influencing mainstream American pop as well.
Notably reaching big names in the industry, be it ASAP Rocky confirming an upcoming collaboration with Peso, Post Malone donning a Peso Pluma T-shirt during one of his concerts in Mexico, or Boxing legend Mike Tyson declaring himself a fan of Peso's work, Pluma is shining world across.

Peso Pluma 2023 Tour and His Canceled Tour Dates
With a net worth of about $10 million, Pluma had his first US tour DOBLE P TOUR that began on March 28, 2023, and ended on October 20 trekking over 20 cities across the United States.
Some of his scheduled tour stops in Milwaukee and Mexico had to be canceled and postponed after Pluma received death threats from alleged Mexican drug cartels.

Peso Pluma is also slated to perform on the first day of the Tecate Pa’l Norte festival in Monterrey, Mexico, along with Kendrick Lamar, Keane, Aleman, Bad Religion, Belanova, and many other stars.
