The Weeknd New Album 2024
It’s been two years since The Weeknd released Dawn FM, the second album of a trilogy that started with After Hours, and the popular Canadian R&B star has announced the title of the third album in that trilogy, Hurry Up Tomorrow, as he readies to wrap up his After Hours Til The Dawn Tour with four shows in Australia in early October.
The Weeknd promoted the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow on his Instagram page on January 8, 2024, when he posted the covers of the two previous albums in the trilogy—After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022)—followed by a black slide with a big white question mark with the caption “3.”
The final act of The Weeknd’s album trilogy will be released through XO and Republic Records. With over 75 million records sold, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, has etched his name in musical history and said that this might be his last release under the moniker The Weekend.
The Weeknd has nabbed seven RIAA diamond certifications for his singles and Tesfaye has the longest-charting song by a solo artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 with his masterpiece Blinding Lights. The song also has the honor of being the most-streamed song in Spotify history with over 4 billion streams as of September 2024.
On September 7, 2024, The Weeknd performed a special one-night show at Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo, Brazil, which was live streamed on YouTube. 10% of all net proceeds from merch sales at the show and online were donated to the Brazilian Soul Fund of Brazil Foundation, which supports various communities in southern Brazil who are affected by natural disasters and economic hardships.
He is set to do another one-off show on January 25, 2025 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
The Weeknd New Album Release Date
Tesfaye, the first musical artist to hold the top three spots on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at the same time, has finally announced the Hurry Up Tomorrow release date to be on January 24, 2025.
In the build-up to this third album of the trilogy, The Weeknd said of Hurry Up Tomorrow, “This album represents the creative apex of the project, serving as the third and final chapter crafted with existential and self-referential themes as seen with the latest visionary teasers that have set fans ablaze with anticipation for this concluding installment.”
The Weeknd Discography
After the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow, The Weeknd will now have six studio albums, nine extended play releases, four compilation albums, three mixtapes, one live album, and 75 singles released. Here are his six studio albums:

The Weeknd Tour and Upcoming Shows
The last two shows on the After Hours til Dawn tour for The Weeknd was on Tuesday, October 22, and Wednesday, October 23 at Accor Stadium (Stadium Australia) in Sydney, Australia.
The only upcoming show he has announced is a Hurry Up Tomorrow one-off show on January 25, 2025 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. After that, Tesfaye’s schedule clears up, so we will see if he announces a potential tour supporting the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow.
Should The Weeknd do just that, check back here at TicketX for the best tickets, as that tour will certainly be in demand and tickets will be going fast as he will likely be doing all of the new material off the The Weeknd new album 2024 and the third of this magnificent trilogy. And with what he has recently said, that may be his last tour under the moniker The Weeknd.
Will Hurry Up Tomorrow Be The Weeknd’s Last Album?
The Weeknd announced in May 2023 in an interview with W magazine, that he is aiming to “close the chapter” of his musical life under the stage name The Weeknd and may be using his birth name Abel Tesfaye in any future projects.
“It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter, I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m trying to shed that skin and be reborn,”
In his illustrious career (as of August 2024), The Weeknd has racked up 18.5 certified album units and 126 million certified digital single units in the US and the Toronto product has nabbed four Grammy Awards, a Latin Grammy Award, 20 Billboard Music Awards, six American Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award (The Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show Starring The Weeknd) and an Academy Award (“Earned It”).
What Else Does The Weeknd Currently Have in The Works?
Last year, The Weeknd moved into Film and TV with the creation of The Idol on HBO, a five-episode series he created with Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim. In this series, Tesfaye played a sleazy nightclub owner, self-help guru, and cult leader named Tedros who had a relationship with the show’s focus, pop idol Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), who was coming off a nervous breakdown that culminated in the cancelation of her last tour.
After getting panned by the critics, it was announced last August by HBO that there will be no second season for The Idol.
Tesfaye is also unveiling his ”Halloween Horror Nights” called “The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy” at Universal Studios in Universal City, California. It opened on Thursday, September 5, 2024, and will run through Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the popular theme park in Southern California.
