Philadelphia Phillies are one of MLB’s oldest, most historic franchises. The Phillies, once known as the Quaker, have won 2 World Series titles (1980 and 2008), 8 National League pennants, and 15 playoff appearances in its 141 years of history. The Phillies did not see success until 1915, 32 years after their founding, when they first qualified for the playoffs under the lead of the brilliant pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander. Their newest franchise face, Bryce Harper, has led the team to the 2022 MLB World Series playoffs and transformed them into the high-caliber title challenger supporters have long desired.
Philadelphia Phillies Game 2024
Philadelphia Phillies began the 2024 season on March 28 against the Atlanta Braves and will conclude on September 29 against the Washington Nationals. MLB postseason starts on October 1, and if the Philadelphia Phillies make it to game 7 of the World Series, they will be playing it on November 2, 2024. If you want to know Phillies score today, check out ESPN MLB scores. The Phillies have gotten very close to winning the World Series trophy in the last two years. With that comes expectations, overreaction, and everything in between. The offseason has been quiet for the Phillies so far. Except for the 7-year / $172,000,000 contract with Aaron Nola, the Phillies have not made any splash, and it seems they are not going to. Philadelphia Phillies have also made an offer to Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but losing them to the Dodgers does not feel as painful when you already have a solid lineup.
Must-watch Upcoming Philadelphia Phillies Matchup:
Philadelphia Phillies vs New York Mets: the National League East’s fiercest rivalry began on May 11, 1962, after the 11-9 Phillies’ win at the Polo Grounds. Sixty-two years later, the two teams have met more than a thousand times and give fans enough resources for hours of sports bantering on the internet. This year, the rivalry goes across the pond to the U.K., making it extra special for fans of both teams as MLB sees the rivalry as the “best form of baseball” and uses it to promote the sport worldwide.
Philadelphia Phillies vs Washington Nationals: Phillies-Nationals rivalry started during the ‘70s, peaked during the ‘80s, and heated again in 2019 when Bryce Harper moved to Philadelphia. Harper, the longtime Washington hometown hero, became the true villain of this rivalry after signing a monstrous $330 million contract with the Phillies, well aware that he would face the Nationals 19 times over the next 13 seasons. The Nationals fan boos turned even saltier after the loss of Juan Soto, leaving the team with only young prospects and washed-up 35-year-old has-beens. Star power makes it an easy prediction for the Phillies, but a ballpark scream-off amongst fans alone is worth the ticket.

TicketX’s Philadelphia Phillies Top Players Pick:
Bryce Harper: After the first five successful seasons, Bryce Harper entered the sixth with high expectations. 2024 also marks Harper’s second year as first base after volunteering to play and performing well there in 2023. All eyes are on the seven-time MVP this season to see if he can push the Phillies through the Atlanta Braves and win the NL East division. World Series might be more far fetch than what the Phillies can do, but a healthier Harper might be the trump card Philadelphia needs if they are gearing up for the title in 2024.
Aaron Nola: Nola ends the 2023 season with a 4.46 ERA, 32 starts, striking out 202 and walking 45, rightfully earning himself a $172 million contract. The elite pitcher has stayed with the Phillies since being picked in the 2014 Draft. At 30, he will be 37 at the end of the contract and potentially end his career as one of the best pitchers in Philadelphia history and keep the Phillies’ playoff dream alive for the foreseeable future.
