About Master P

Master P is the stage name of Percy Robert Miller, the New Orleans rapper, producer and entrepreneur who founded No Limit Records. Raised in the Calliope housing projects, he took a basketball scholarship to the University of Houston before transferring to Merritt College in Oakland, where he used a $10,000 inheritance to open a record store in nearby Richmond, California. That store became a label. He built No Limit into one of the most productive independent operations in music, releasing Ice Cream Man, Ghetto D and MP Da Last Don, and expanded into film, sports management and basketball, signing NBA contracts with the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors. In 2025 he was named president of basketball operations at the University of New Orleans.
