Motherfolk began in 2013 as a collaboration between Nathan Dickerson and Bobby Paver, two college friends in Cincinnati who found that the songs they had been writing separately shared the same concerns. They made repeated trips to Nashville in that first year to record, and the self-titled debut followed in 2014. Both still front the band on vocals and guitar.
