The Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball team represents Northern Illinois University in NCAA Division I competition as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), based in DeKalb, Illinois. The program dates back to 1901 and has an all-time record of 738 wins and 952 losses, reflecting a historically challenging journey. The Huskies have made three NCAA Tournament appearances, in 1982, 1991, and 1996, but have yet to win a tournament game, and their last appearance now stands nearly 30 years ago. Despite producing eight NBA Draft selections and 17 All-America honors over the years, the program has struggled to find consistency at the conference level, finishing 11th in the MAC with an 11-20 record in 2023-24.
