Pablo Alborán is a Spanish musician, singer-songwriter, and actor born Pablo Moreno de Alborán Ferrándiz on May 31, 1989, in Málaga, Andalusia — one of the most beloved Spanish-language artists of his generation, renowned for earnest acoustic pop marked by flamenco-style guitar and passionate love songs. The son of Spanish architect Salvador Moreno de Alborán Peralta and his French wife Elena Ferrándiz Martínez, and great-grandson of the 1st Marquess of Alborán, he grew up learning piano, classical guitar, flamenco guitar, and acoustic guitar, and took professional singing lessons in Málaga and Madrid. He wrote his first songs — "Amor de Barrio" and "Desencuentro" — at twelve; both appeared on his debut album. After uploading to MySpace and YouTube — catching the attention of Kelly Rowland and fado singer Diana Navarro, who became his mentor — he signed with EMI Spain and released lead single "Solamente Tú" in October 2010. His self-titled debut (2011) topped Spain's albums chart for six consecutive weeks, became the highest-selling record of 2011 in Spain, went platinum six times, and made him the first solo artist since 1998 to debut at number one in Spain. Tanto (2012) was an even bigger hit; Terral (2014) topped the US Latin Pop Albums chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album — his first five studio albums all reached number one in Spain. Further albums include Prometo (2017, Grammy-nominated), Vértigo (2020), and La Cuarta Hoja (2022). He has received four Grammy nominations, twenty-nine Latin Grammy nominations, a Goya Award for Best Original Song, and in February 2025 was awarded the Medal of Andalusia.
