About San Jose State Spartans Men's Basketball

The San Jose State Spartans men's basketball team represents San Jose State University in NCAA Division I competition. The Spartans compete in the Mountain West Conference and play home games at CEFCU Arena. Since joining the MWC in 1999, SJSU has never won a conference title, never reached NCAA Tournament, averaging 4-14 MWC records (perennial bottom-dweller). With only two NCAA appearances ever (1951-52), SJSU holds the dubious distinction of being among America's weakest D1 programs. The Spartans emphasize disciplined play, teamwork, fundamentals, player development, academics, leadership, and community engagement. SJSU aims to end decades of futility against conference powers like Gonzaga, UNLV, and SDSU.
