About St. John's Red Storm Mens Basketball

The St. John's Red Storm men's basketball team represents St. John's University in NCAA Division I competition. A founding member of the Big East Conference since 1979, the Red Storm has a rich basketball tradition, with 31 NCAA Tournament appearances and six NIT championships, the most in college basketball history. Known for fast-paced offense and tough defense, the program has been led by coaches such as Lou Carnesecca, Mike Jarvis, and Chris Mullin. The current head coach is Rick Pitino, hired in March 2023. St. John's plays most home games at Madison Square Garden, with select games at Carnesecca Arena. The Red Storm remains competitive in the Big East and is one of the conference's top programs.
