About Straight No Chaser

Straight No Chaser is an a cappella group that started at Indiana University in 1996. The student group recorded a funny version of “The 12 Days of Christmas” in 1998, and the video went viral on YouTube in 2007 (gathering 26 million views), which led to the students reuniting and earning a five-album deal with Atlantic Records in 2008. The group continues as a student-run a cappella group, but is now called Another Round. All of the members of Straight No Chaser were members of the student group first. Their name was inspired by the 1967 album from Thelonious Monk by the same name. They made their debut at a 36-hour dance marathon at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. The first ten members remained a part of the group until 1999, and new students were selected to replace them. Straight No Chaser won the Contemporary A cappella Recording Award for Best Holiday Album in 2009, and they were nominated for Best Holiday Song as well.
