Sub Focus is the stage name of Nicolaas Douwe Douwma, an English DJ, music producer, songwriter, and sound engineer born on April 13, 1982, in Guildford, Surrey — one of the most influential artists in drum and bass history. The collaborative Portals with Wilkinson followed in 2020, and third solo album Evolve (May 12, 2023, EMI) yielded the UK Top 40 single "Ready to Fly" with Dimension. He has headlined Glastonbury, Creamfields, and Tomorrowland, collaborated with Chase & Status, Rudimental, and Wilkinson, and taken his immersive Circular Sound live show — built around Lissajous geometric shapes — to sell out London's 10,000-capacity Alexandra Palace.
