About Wicked - Musical

Wicked is the Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman musical that retells The Wizard of Oz from the witches' point of view, following Elphaba and Galinda from their first meeting at Shiz University to the events that leave one feared and the other adored. Adapted from Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel, it opened at the Gershwin Theatre in October 2003 and has run there ever since, passing a billion dollars in Broadway revenue and standing as the second-highest-grossing musical in Broadway history. It plays simultaneously on Broadway, on a North American tour and in London's West End, and reached a vast new audience through the two-part film adaptation completed by Wicked: For Good in November 2025.
