With a consistently electrifying lineup of local and international acts, Bumbershoot creates an annual experience that serves to celebrate and highlight the work of artists, musicians, and pioneers in the entertainment industry while creating an immersive adventure for festival attendees at the same time.

The Bumbershoot Festival 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of the Labor Day shindig. It featured headliners like Sleater, The Revivalists, Jawbreaker, Kinney, Brittany Howard, and Fatboy Slim. Michael Rietmulder highlighted the sheer impact of the annual festival when he described it as a reassertion of Seattle’s identity.
Overall it was a successful event that marked a truly spectacular revival of the Bumbershoot mission, which is the embrace and celebration of culture along with its surrounding community. Dan Samhold described it as a triumphant weekend, drawing attention to the impeccable work of Bumbershoot’s new management. The 2023 edition of the festival seemed to send the message that the future of Bumbershoot was only just beginning, and it was set to be an invigorating ride.
Although the less-than-stellar weather put a bit of a dent in the otherwise picture-perfect weekend, it did little to deter most of the attendees from having an unforgettable time, despite the displeasure of some of its other fans.
An official streaming platform for 2024 has yet to be announced but you can access highlights from the festival via the Bumbershoot website and Instagram. Video clips of the festival sets will also be available on YouTube during and after the festival.
Bumbershoot generally allows for freedom and expression when it comes to festival outfits except for the bag policy that only allows clear bags not exceeding 18”x18”x6”.
It is, however, advised to dress comfortably with overall convenience in mind. Make sure to opt for comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
