Hollywood Bowl

The concert of the Los Angeles Philharmonic will be part of the tour happening exclusively at the famous open-air theater Hollywood Bowl, which is considered to be legendary. Every concert will be built around a certain theme or idea, with works that belong to the classical repertoire, contemporary compositions, and known pop songs.

The Hollywood Bowl is as much a part of Los Angeles' cultural landscape as the Walk of Fame. The stage is a venue for performances and artistic innovations. Every year, the LA Phil enchants audiences with over 250 concerts: They use the unique stages of the Hollywood Bowl and The Ford. The locations are part of Southern California's cultural history. Since 1916, artists – whether known or still unknown – have been able to use the Bowl as a platform to showcase their talent. Early highlights include the debut of violinist Jascha Heifetz in 1932 and the renovations by architect Frank Gehry in 1970 to optimize the acoustics of the facility.

The Ford

The Ford is surrounded by the Hollywood Hills and thus offers an idyllic and intimate artistic experience in the summer. Under the starry sky, the audience can experience live performances – the seats are no more than 30 meters from the stage. It was founded in 1920 by heiress Christine Wetherill Stevenson as the Pilgrimage Theatre and was originally built for the Pilgrimage Play. It was originally an amphitheatre, made entirely of wood, but was renovated in 1931 and replaced by a concrete structure in the style of ancient Judaic architecture. The Ford has hosted many extraordinary events: from classical concerts by Jascha Heifetz to performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The stage has been renovated in recent years and offers other modern amenities while retaining its historic charm. The Ford has been operated by the LA Phil since 2019: The focus is on supporting local artists and community engagement.

Los Angeles Philharmonic Hollywood Bowl Review

The annual Hollywood Bowl Los Angeles Philharmonic is not only a musical journey but also a significant contributor to the orchestra's revenue streams. With packed audiences and enthusiastic receptions, the tour showcased the Los Angeles Philharmonic's enduring popularity and cultural significance.

The public was astonished by the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s performances at the Hollywood Bowl, specifically because of the musicians’ virtuosic skills and the repertoire chosen. The reception was pronounced with enthusiasm from the audience that appreciated the combination of the best classics and compositions that were created during the rehearsals, with the love and accurate sounds of the performers. A large number of the concert patrons described the aesthetic appeal of the Hollywood Bowl as being an open theatre that was marvelous to watch the concert.

Some fans referred to minor criticisms regarding the Hollywood Bowl Los Angeles Philharmonica tour that most fans were delighted with. Some of the people complained about the quality of sound during either orchestras or bands, it was sometimes difficult for them to grasp all of the intricacies of the performed pieces. However, a small number of the sample expressed that some issues, including delays in concession stands and limited availability of toilet facilities at the venue negatively impacted their experience of the event, though not very significantly.

About Los Angeles Philharmonic

The Los Angeles Philharmonic which was founded in 1919 by William Andrews Clark, Jr. had tough times that involved financial Ovation and transition of directors. Dorothy Buffum Chandler in the middle of the Twentieth century made important movements in the attempts to acquire illustrious conductors including Georg Solti and Eduard van Beinum. Notable appointments include Ernest Fleischmann serving the orchestra from 1969 when he introduced innovations such as the Green Umbrella concerts.

Under Salonen’s leadership, which started in 1992, the orchestra has been acclaimed for remarkable recordings and numerous tours. Salonen was succeeded by Gustavo Dudamel in 2009, who brought change, in addition to worldwide recognition that has encompassed Grammy awards as well as special performances. Before Dudamel steps down in 2025-26, the orchestra intends to have another leader – Noltemy Kim – who will keep up with the tradition set by the founder with great passion and innovation.
