Jawbox is a post-hardcore band that formed in 1989. From Washington, D.C., the four-person band released their first two albums in 1991 and 1992. They worked with Dischord Records and became the third highest-selling band from the label. By 1994, they had signed with a major record label, Atlantic Records, and released their third album, which held their best-known song, “Savory.” They left the label after their fourth album, then disbanded in 1997. They reunited for one show in 2009, then got back together full-time in 2019. Jawbox’s first concert took place in 1989, and they had a huge impact on the underground music world. They influenced a long list of other bands. In 2022, they released their first studio material in 26 years, an EP called The Revisionist.
