Drawing from a broad range of influences including jazz, rock, emo, and punk, Karate made headway as a touring band throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s before medical issues and other issues caused the band to dissolve in 2005. During this hiatus, however, they released a recording of their 595th performance in Belgium entitled 595 which gained a large cult following despite the band being inactive.
