Who is 070 Shake?
Def Jam Recordings artist 070 Shake is an American rapper and singer of Dominican descent named Danielle Balbuena. She was born on June 13, in North Bergen, New Jersey, and went to North Bergen High School where she was a member of the Bruins basketball team and played as a shooting guard.
The “Shake” part of her name derived from one of her favorite moves as a hoopster, the “shake weave.” The “070” stems from the local ZIP Code in North Bergen where Balbuena is a member of the 070 collective along with musical artists like Ralphy River, Treee Safari, and Hack. On December 18, 2016, they released their first mixtape, The 070 Project: Chapter 1.
The 27-year-old first signed with Kanye West’s GOOD Music, an independent American label created in 2004. 070 Shake’s debut EP Glitter was released in 2018 and saw the Garden State resident burst onto the scene for her guest appearances on Kanye’s Ye album which saw her sing on the hits “Ghost Day” and “Violent Crimes” Both songs made it into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 music charts that summer.
070 Shake also appeared on the single “Escapism” with RAYE in 2023.
Her second release You Can’t Kill Me (2022) was the last album put out by the GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings partnership as the two labels went their separate ways after some antisemitic remarks from G.O.O.D. founder West.
070 Shake’s first studio album, Modus Vivendi, came out in 2020, so like Tyler, the Creator, Shake albums seem to come out every two years (2020, 2022, 2024). So does that mean we can expect her fourth studio album in 2026? Time will tell.
When is 070 Shake Dropping a New Album?
Def Jam Recordings artist 070’s Shake’s first studio album since You Can’t Kill Me, titled Petrichor, will be released on Friday, November 15. 070 Shake recently shared the enchanting Bennett Watanabe-directed music video for the lead single from Petrichor, called “Winter Baby / New Jersey Blues” starring her girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp.
The video (below) was produced by Dave Hamelin (Beyoncé)—who worked with Balbuena as executive producer on Petrichor—Patrick Krief (The Dears), and Tyler Johnson (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus).
The album’s name gets its title from the word “petrichor,” a term that is used for the wonderful smell of dry soil after an extremely long period of arid and dry weather. The word is derived from the Ancient Greek words πέτρα (pétra) “rock” and ἰχώρ (ikhṓr), the sacred fluid which was said to be the blood of the gods and immortals in Greek mythology. It was coined by Australian mineralogist Richard Grenfell Thomas.

070 Shake and Lily-Rose Depp’s Relationships Timeline
In 2020, Shake was in a relationship with Sophia Diana Lodato and then she was romantically linked with singer Kehlani whom she dated from 2021 to 2022. The two can be seen together in Kehlani’s ”Melt” video from 2022.
Lily-Rose Depp is a singer, model, and French-American actress and is the daughter of actors Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis and the goddaughter of singer Marilyn Manson and novelist François-Marie Banier.
Depp starred in The Idol (HBO) where she was featured on the show’s soundtrack in her single “One Of The Girls” with The Weeknd and Jennie. The song reached as high as No. 51 on the Billboard Top 100 rankings.
Since the late 2010s, Depp has been living in an apartment in New York City, and the 25-year-old dated actor Timothée Chalamet for more than a year. However, the only relationship that Depp has actually confirmed in the public domain is with her current girlfriend and love interest, 070 Shake.
After several months of speculation—rumors started during Paris Fashion Week—in an Instagram Story post from May 11, 2023, Depp confirmed their relationship, writing “4 MONTHS WITH MY CRUSH” next to a photo of her and Shake kissing.
The two lovebirds were then seen kissing outside LAX Airport when Lily-Rose returned home from the Cannes Film Festival. Shake has chosen to never put labels on her sexuality saying, “I don’t really identify myself as queer or gay or anything. I just like girls,” in an early Pitchfork interview in 2018.

Although 070 Shake doesn’t currently have any tour plans, expect her to announce some dates at some time in 2025.
A look at 070 Shake’s Concert and Tour History shows the artist slowed down a lot on the road in 2024 (6 shows), after peaking out in 2023 (54 shows), in 2022 (41 shows), and in 2021 (41 shows). In her first year on the road in 2016, 070 Shake did 36 concerts followed by 11 in 2017, just 7 in 2018, 20 in 2019, and 15 in 2020.
Shake’s last concert was on June 8 at Kesärauha 2024 at Linnanpuisto, Turku, Finland where she opened with her Kanye cover of “Violent Crimes” and closed the show with a Kanye cover of “Ghost Town.” Her second-to-last show was at the NorthSide Festival in Eskelund Aarhus, Central Jutland, Denmark on June 6.
Her last solo show came back on June 3 at Circolo Magnolia, in Segrate, Lombardy, Italy.
