Coldplay continues with its eighth concert tour called the Music of the Spheres World Tour, which saw the 2025 North American leg begin on May 31 at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California, after the group played dates in Asia in China and South Korea this spring.
The tour is in support of the group’s ninth (Music of the Spheres, 2021) and 10th (Moon Music, 2024) studio albums, and it began over three years ago on March 18, 2022, at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San José.
Chris Martin and the group have already done US shows in Las Vegas, Denver, El Paso, Texas, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, suburban Boston—scene of the infamous ”Kiss Cam scandal”—Madison, Wisconsin, and Nashville (July 22).
After so long on the road, the Coldplay tour will come to an end with a series of shows at historic Wembley Stadium in August and September—fitting for the group which has its roots in its hometown of London.

The album—whose full title is Music of the Spheres Vol. II: Moon Music—came out in three unique editions, each with its own exclusive content: Notebook, Tour, and Full Moon. It reached No. 1 in 16 countries, including the UK, where Coldplay registered its 10th No. 1 single in their home nation.
Moon Music also made it to the No. 1 spot on Billboard 200 in the US, selling 120,000 units and marking the first time that a British group was No. 1 on both UK and US charts at the same time since 2016.

About Coldplay
Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland co-founded Coldplay in 1997 in London after meeting at University College London. The band was originally called Big Fat Noises and then Starfish before changing their name to Coldplay. Their first studio album came out in 1998 as an independent release before the foursome signed with Parlophone in 1999.
The albums Parachutes (2001), A Rush of Blood to the Head (2003), and X&Y (2006) were all named British Album of the Year, with the critically acclaimed Parachutes winning the GRAMMY Award for the Best Alternative Music Album in 2002.
With 165.4 million certified units sold, Coldplay is one of the top-selling musical acts of all time, and the group was the halftime show at the Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 7, 2016, where they were joined onstage by special guests Beyoncé and Bruno Mars.
Although they became eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023, Coldplay has yet to receive a nomination for the honor, but expect one in the not-too-distant future.
Another noteworthy semi-member of Coldplay is creative band manager Phil Harvey, who has been with the group since their early days and who is considered the “fifth member” of Coldplay, much like producer George Martin was dubbed the “Fifth Beatle” due to his contributions to the Fab Four during The Beatles’ glory years in England.
Coldplay Songs
Supergroup Coldplay has registered a number of hits through the years, including Coldplay songs and concert staples “Yellow,” “Clocks,” “Fix You,” “Something Just Like This,” “Viva la Vida,” “Adventure of a Lifetime,” and “The Scientist”.
The top 12 most streamed Coldplay songs on Spotify—all with over 1 billion streams—are “Something Just Like This” (3.2 billions streams), “Yellow” (#2), “Viva la Vida” (#3), “The Scientist” (#4), “A Sky Full of Stars” (#5), “Fix You” (#6), “Hymn For The Weekend” (#7), “Paradise” (#8), “My Universe” (#9), “Sparks” (#10), “Adventure of a Lifetime” (#11) and “Clocks” (#12).
The good news for Coldplay fans and ticket-holders? They played all 12 of these Coldplay songs at the Music of the Spheres World Tour show in suburban Boston earlier in July.
What Controversy Happened at the Boston Concert?
During the song “The Astronomer” at the Gillette Stadium show in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on July 16, a major internet scandal erupted when a clip of a couple embracing made the crowd-cam during the show.
Upon seeing themselves on the big screen, the couple quickly stopped hugging and left the screen. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy,” Coldplay singer Chris Martin joked.
The potential man in the clip was identified as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, who gave a statement to his company and family for making a “deeply personal mistake playing out on a very public stage.” The woman in the Coldplay video controversy was alleged to be Kristin Cabot, a human resources manager for the tech company.
Byron’s wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, reportedly dropped her last name from her Facebook bio after the quirky and embarrassing Digital Age viral moment.
