About Julión Álvarez
Julión Álvarez, born on April 11, 1983, in La Concordia, Chiapas, is a renowned Mexican singer-songwriter and frontman of Julión Álvarez y Su Norteño Banda, who has become one of the leading artists in regional Mexican music. Nominated for multiple Latin Grammys and Billboard awards, Álvarez has entertained listeners with his traditional banda style that has unabashedly won over more than 18 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Early Musical Beginnings
Julión Álvarez's passion for music began in his childhood in La Concordia, Chiapas. He was born to a farmer father and a homemaker mother while listening to norteño music because of his parents' musical tastes. Growing up, Álvarez took part in every singing festival and contest at his school in an effort to perfect his vocal skills.
He moved to Tuxtla Gutiérrez to study mechanical engineering in his late teens and that journey marked the beginning of his professional singing career. After temporarily getting a job at an optician's office, where he continued working part-time during his Banda period, one-day, Álvarez met a show business entrepreneur who suggested he work for Banda El Recodo on their Chiapas tour. In part encouraged by the band members who sensed his potential, Álvarez decided to stick with a singing career. Leaving at 18, with 1.600 pesos, a clarinet, and a suitcase of dreams, for Mazatlán Sinaloa, starting his musical odyssey.
Formation of Julión Álvarez y Su Norteño Banda
Julión Álvarez formed his band, Julión Álvarez y Su Norteño Banda, in 2007 after gaining experience with other groups. Before this, he had served with Banda MS from 2003 to 2006. The new band signed with Universal Latino's Machete Music label and released their debut album Corazón Mágico in 2007, which included the hit single "Las Mulas de Moreno". It started the successful career of Álvarez as a solo artist and as a bandleader within the regional Mexican music scene.
Success and Achievements
In 2021, Julión Álvarez was awarded the Latin Grammy for Best Banda Album for his work De Hoy en Adelante, Que Te Vaya Bien.
If there is anyone who is consistently nominated at the Latin Grammy Awards, it would be Álvarez — so much so that his talent has flourished over the years. He received nominations for Best Banda Album in 2015 for El Aferrado and Best Regional Mexican Song for "El Amor De Su Vida" in the same year. In 2016, his album Mis Ídolos, Hoy Mis Amigos!!! was also nominated for Best Banda Album.
Judge and Coach on La Voz Mexico
Julión Álvarez made his debut as a coach on the popular Mexican singing competition La Voz... Mexico in 2014 for its fourth season. Álvarez teamed up with fellow coaches Yuri, Laura Pausini, and Ricky Martin on the show, which catapulted the singer's popularity way beyond his core regional Mexican music fanbase.

Potential Expansion of the Tour
While only 3 dates have been officially announced, there are indications that the tour may expand:
Ricardo Álvarez, CEO of Copar Music and Julión's brother, mentioned that they are considering two possibilities: playing in some stadiums, or several arenas.
More tour dates are expected to be announced in the near future, with Ricardo Álvarez stating, "next week we will announce the complete tour".
Rebuilding US Presence
After resolving his legal troubles in May of 2022, Álvarez said he planned to bounce back to the US on social media and make his music available for streaming again. Due to this, his return to the US music scene is likely to continue into 2024 and then 2025.
