About Tedeschi Trucks Band

Formed in Jacksonville, Florida back in 2010, the Tedeschi Trucks Band is led by married couple Susan Tedeschi (54) ****and Derek Trucks (46) and comes strong with a 10-piece band lineup. The two toured together in 2007 as Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi’s Soul Stew Revival before merging their respective groups and doing their first concert in 2010.

Revelator, their debut album, won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Blues Album, and the group has five studio albums and three live albums, including Layla Revisited (Live at LOKN’), an homage to the Derek and the Dominos album Layla and Assorted Love Songs.

Tedeschi and Trucks married on December 5, 2001, and the couple has two children, Charles Kahlil (2002)—named for famed saxophonist Charlie Parker, guitarist Charlie Christian, and author Kahlil Gibran—and daughter Sophia Naima (2004), who got her middle name from a ballad composed by jazz icon John Coltrane.

The happy family still resides in Jacksonville, where Trucks was born on June 8, 1979. Trucks bought his first guitar at age 9 for just $5, and by age 20 (1994), he had already played with artists like Bob Dylan, Stephen Stills, and Joe Walsh.

Tedeschi Trucks Band Songs

The most streamed Tedeschi Trucks Band song on Spotify is “Midnight in Harlem,”which has way more listens than “Part of Me,” “Anyhow,” “Don’t Know What It Means,” and ”Hear Me”. TTB did the first three songs on opening night in suburban Dallas in May.

Other popular Tedeschi Trucks Band singles include “Do I Look Worried,” “Everybody’s Talkin’,” “Soul Sweet Song,” “Just As Strange,” “Hard Case,” and “They Don’t Shine.”

And the Tedeschi Trucks Band cover versions of songs by artists including Derek and The Dominos, Ben E. King, Little Milton, Dr John, the Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin ("Bring It On Home"), Bob Dylan, The Beatles (”With A Little Help From My Friends), and Prince (”D.M.S.R.”, ”1999”) shows off the versatility of this underrated Southern band.

The group’s last studio album, I Am The Moon, was a creative quadruple release of 24 original songs put out in 2022, dropped in four parts—I. Crescent, II. Ascension, III. The Fall, and IV. Farewell—and released in a box set with all four records on September 9, 2022.
