The NFL 2023 campaign is over, and the Pittsburgh Steelers had a fantastic season. Even after several unexpected defeats and offensive setbacks, they had a few moments that fans can be proud of. By the end of the season, they had clinched third place in the AFC North.

While preparing for the new season, the team needs to undergo a rebuild in some significant areas. Now that the new NFL season is underway, here are some major recaps of the Steelers 2024 season.

Raiders vs Steelers

One of the most emotional events in the 2023 NFL season is the disappointing defeat in Buffalo. Before the event, the Las Vegas Raiders had a disappointing run in the league. So they returned to Allegiant Stadium, hoping to turn their luck around in their first home game of the season. However, despite their massive efforts, they still experienced a similar fate.

This time, the Pittsburgh Steelers grabbed a second consecutive win against the Raiders. It was a tight match, and the Steelers scored with 23-18 points to seal the victory.

Although the Raiders were trailing 23-7, a late-game surge saw them drive 80 yards in 11 plays. The Raiders’ quarterback - Jimmy Garoppolo, performed a one-yard pass to Devante Adams, followed by a successful two-point conversion to rookie tight end Michael Mayer, narrowed the gap to 23-18 with just over five minutes remaining.

Browns vs Steelers

This is another unforgettable moment in the Steelers 2023 campaign. After winning six Super Bowls in previous seasons, they have held their legacy in the league as one of the biggest teams.

In one of the biggest NFL matches, the Browns had a tough matchup against the Steelers. In the game’s final moments, the placekicker for the Cleveland Browns sealed a victory for the team. After losing the match with 13-10 points, the Steelers captured the headlines with a fantastic performance.

However, this clutch play was sparked by the impressive performance of rookie quarterback - Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who stepped in for an injured teammate in just his second NFL start.

Thompson-Robinson's composed play, highlighted by four consecutive passes for 29 yards, set the stage for Hopkins' game-winning kick. Hopkins had already demonstrated his ability to secure wins with a 40-yard field goal against the Baltimore Ravens. The Browns' back-to-back victories over the Ravens and the Steelers, a rare feat in 15 attempts, sparked hope in Cleveland for a promising season ahead, even in Watson's absence.

The Steelers, now 6-4, struggled against the Browns' top-ranked defense despite a standout 74-yard touchdown run by Steelers running back Jaylen Warren. Pittsburgh's defense tried to contain Thompson-Robinson, but the rookie quarterback led a late-game drive that positioned the Browns for Hopkins' decisive kick.

After experiencing yet another defeat, the team had to reposition the squad after the first half of the season. So the second half turned into a defensive battle, with both teams fighting for field position. Despite a strategic move to sideline Warren briefly, the Steelers tied the game with Chris Boswell's 28-yard field goal.

Steelers Depot

In a recent report from Steelers Depot, Pittsburgh is looking to strengthen its offensive ability. According to a recent post on X (Twitter), the team is replacing their interim coordinators after appointing Arthur Smith. Meanwhile, the new coordinator could have been best in his most recent matches.

His former team - the Atlanta Falcons, endured a tough stretch, winning just three of their last ten games. After facing some challenges with quarterback positions, Smith was criticized when the Falcons ranked 17th in total yards per game.

Before leading the Atlanta Falcons, Smith had similar problems with his former team - Tennessee Titans. This was before he advanced from his position as a defensive coordinator.

However, Smith has proven to be one of the best offensive-quality coaches. As for the Steelers, we are still waiting to witness how his campaign will turn out for the team.
