Pom Pom Squad is a grunge and indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York. The group is the solo project of Mia Berrin, the frontwoman, with permanent members on guitar and drums. The trio released extended plays in 2018 and 2019 and their debut album came out in 2021. The group toured extensively as the opening act for other groups until their second album came out in 2024. They are now the headliner and have openers of their own on their 2025 tour. Berrin was born in Long Island, New York, but grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and went to private high schools in Orlando, Florida. She started Pom Pom Squad when she was 18 and went to New York University where she performed solo. Berrin is Puerto Rican, African American, and Jewish and identifies as queer. She speaks out regularly about her identity and it has influenced her music greatly.
