PUP stands for Pathetic Use of Potential, the current name of one of Canada’s top punk rock bands, which began under the alternative band name of Topanga in 2010. The band is made up of three childhood friends from Toronto – bassist Nestor Chumak, guitarist Steve Sladkowski, and drummer Zack Mykula – who met guitarist and lead singer Stefan Babcock in high school when he was playing for another band. After they all graduated and his band broke up, the other members convinced Babcock to join Topanga with two other musicians.
