About Skate America

Skate America is an international figure skating competition set to be held in Allen, Texas at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center over three days of competition from October 18-20. The Skate America event is both a standalone competition, with medals awarded in the four conventional competitive categories of skating (men’s singles, women’s singles, pairs, ice dance), and part of a larger series, the 2024–25 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, towards which skaters earn points for where they finish at each event, hopefully earning enough to qualify for the 2024-25 Grand Prix Final at Grenoble, France from December 5-8. As the premier figure skating event to take place in the United States in 2024, Skate America is certain to bring in a huge influx of figure skating fans attracted by the stunning combination of artistry and athleticism displayed by the skaters on the ice. Longtime fans will know what to expect, but if you are curious but still a bit skeptical, just imagine a single performance involving a skater zipping at top speed before leaping into a quadruple spin jump, landing it perfectly, then slowing to react with delicacy and intricacy to the music, all in a moment (and always just a slip or caught edge from disaster).
