Tucked in North Port, Florida, 35 miles south of Sarasota, CoolToday Park is the spring training ground of the Atlanta Braves. The facility opened in March 2019, with a match culminating in the team’s triumph over the Tampa Bay Rays, one of their biggest rivals in the game.
The park was a $140 million venture funded by private and public donors; Sarasota County provided $21.2 million, and the State of Florida contributed $20 million. On the private part, Mattamy Homes provided land and $4.7 million, while North Port and Wellen Park each donated $4.7 million.
Despite being one of the lesser-known event centers in the United States and even Florida, CoolToday Park does not entirely run short of events.
For one, the venue has its trivia nights, and its closest edition, on April 11th, will be anchored by Keith Hayes at the Superior Pool Tomahawk Tiki Bar. It will also feature live music performances from the following artists: Jimmy Gillis, Aloha Sharks, and Mark & Jeannie.
On April 23rd CoolToday Park’s facility Tour, an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the venue to better appreciate its innings. On April 27th, the center will host the Sarasota County Big Truck Day, one for large-sized four-wheel enthusiasts.
The Venice Symphony’s Patriotic Pops follows on May 25th, a musical event that is often rounded up with colorful fireworks shows.
