About the Jim Patterson Stadium

Jim Patterson is a popular baseball stadium situated in Louisville, Kentucky. It is where the University of Louisville Cardinals play their baseball games. Back in 2007, the team nailed NCAA Super Regionals, beating Oklahoma State and scoring themselves a ticket to the College World Series in Omaha. And they have been hosting NCAA Division I Baseball Championships every single year since 2012. According to Baseball America, the team has been in the top 10 collegiate baseball teams in the nation.

The Jim Patterson Stadium is built on this abandoned site that had been sitting empty for over 20 years. They split down the middle with Central Avenue, keeping the original office building intact on one side, which was transformed into the Jewish Hospital Sports Medicine Clinic. That is not all they did, on the other side of Central Avenue, they built a shopping center with a UoFL-themed Kroger store in it.

When Jim Patterson Stadium first opened its doors in 2005, it had 1,500 chairback seats, with some grassy knolls that could fit another 1,000 fans. But in 2013, more chairback seats were added, bringing the total capacity to 4,000. This is all thanks to a $5 million donation from Jim Patterson himself, a former Louisville baseball player; the stadium is named after him.
