The Weathervane Playhouse has had a pretty remarkable journey from its humble beginnings to one of the premier theater destinations in Ohio. “From Stable to Stage” is the slogan summing up its history and indeed the Weathervane Playhouse did begin life in an actual barn! It moved through tents and a wooden pavilion before moving at last into a more permanent structure (only for that to burn down in 1987!). A subsequent fire destroyed the Playhouse’s collection of costumes. Nevertheless, in spite of all these setbacks and obstacles, the Weathervane Playhouse has survived to continue to provide high quality on-stage entertainment to anyone lucky enough to happen upon the venue while in Akron.

Because the Weathervane Playhouse gives patrons the chance to experience great theater within a closer, more intimate setting, the venue has long attracted major productions starring many fine stage actors.
