Yonder Mountain String Band is a progressive bluegrass group that has released 5 albums and a few live recordings. Some members of the ground met in Illinois, but the full group started in Nederland, Colorado in 1998. They released their debut album in 1999 with an independent label and performed at NedFest in 1999, a music festival in their hometown. They were invited to perform at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, which was held in Denver. They have continued to create music and were nominated for a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2023 for their most recent album, which was released in 2022.
