Born William Apostol in 1992 in Lansing, Michigan, Billy Strings, as the name suggests, is a master of the guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Raised in a family well rooted in music, he was surrounded by acoustic melodies from the get go.

At just four years old, he received his first guitar and began honing his skills. He was inspired by his step-father Terry Barber and uncle, both of whom are accomplished musicians. At six years old, he joined his dad for bluegrass picking parties, and along the line earned the moniker Billy Strings.

However, as a teenager, he briefly veered into heavy metal music, which led him into a circle of substance abuse. But, thankfully, recognizing the dangerous path he was on, he returned to his bluegrass roots and sought a better, healthier and safer path to mental freedom.

After high school, Billy moved to Traverse City, Michigan, where he buried himself in the vibrant music scene. His talent quickly caught the attention of local musicians, and he found a mentor in mandolinist Don Julin. Together, they released the duo album Rock of Ages. His solo career took off with the release of his independent album Fiddle Tune X in 2014.

In 2016, Billy moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where his talent flourished even further. His debut solo album, Turmoil & Tinfoil, released in 2017, marketed his unique sound and got him critical acclaim. This was followed by his Grammy-winning album Home in 2019.

Billy Strings is currently touring across the United States. His next show holds on May 10th at Big As Texas in Conroe, Texas. From there, he goes to Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village for performances on May 17th and 18th.

Continuing the tour, Strings goes to The Armory in Minneapolis on May 21st, followed by performances at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont on May 24th and 25th. On June 22nd, he'll be at the Buckeye Country Superfest, starring Zach Bryan, in Columbus.

In July, he will be welcomed at Big Mountain Ranch in Whitefish on the 12th and then at the FairWell Music Festival in Redmond on the 19th. He'll also visit the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport on the 26th and 27th and the DCU Center in Worcester on the 30th and 31st.

For his August itinerary are the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pennsylvania, on the 2nd and 3rd, followed by the Outlaw Music Festival in George, Washington, on the 10th. Then, the Greek Theatre on the 17th and 18th, before he heads to the Kia Forum in Inglewood on the 23rd and 24th.

The tour winds down in September with a show at the Outlaw Music Festival in Burgettstown on the 14th.
