About Ice Nine Kills

Ice Nine Kills is a heavy metal band that formed with high school friends in 2000. The group hails from Boston, Massachusetts, and is currently signed to Fearless Records. They are known for their horror-inspired lyrics. Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz were the founding members, but Charnas is the only founding member who remains. Ice Nine Kills created three EPs and six albums. They got their name from the fictional substance in the novel Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. They started with just Ice Nine as their name, but changed the name to Ice Nine Kills just before their debut independent album came out in 2006. They released another EP the next year and went on several national tours. They were then asked to open for well-known acts, which helped them to gain their own fans. Original member Schwartz left in 2009 after struggling with life on the road, and other members were added to cover.
