Nate Bargatze was born Nathanael Bargatze in Nashville, Tennessee to Carol and Stephen Bargatze. In a recent interview on the Got It From My Momma podcast hosted by Jennifer Vickery Smith, she talks about her experience having a professional magician and clown as a husband, and a renowned comedian as son. She also talks about her emotional experience at her son’s show and how she met Eric Church without realizing it at first!

Nate Bargatze has a younger sister, Abigail, who is 10 years younger than him. Despite that, the both share a close relationship and he often mentions her in her skits. He also has a brother, Derek Bargatze who works in real estate.

Nate Bargatze is married to wife, Laura Bargatze whom he met while they were both working at Applebee’s in Tennessee. They tied the knot in 2006 and have a daughter, Harper, born in 2012. Fans of Nate may have realized that Harper opened all 3 of his specials by introducing him with “Please welcome my daddy, Nate Bargatze!”

Bargatze's stand-up albums, Yelled at by a Clown (2014) and Full Time Magic (2015), both achieved Billboard Top Ten status. His Netflix specials, The Tennessee Kid (2019) and The Greatest Average American (2021) featuring viral jokes like “new math”, have garnered acclaim and a Grammy nomination.

His special Hello World, filmed in Phoenix, premiered on Amazon Prime Video in January 2023 and became Amazon's most-watched original comedy special in just 28 days of release, with 2.9 million views. In April 2023, Bargatze drew a record-breaking crowd of 19,365 at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

Renowned for his comedic writing, Bargatze contributed to Spike TV’s Video Game Awards and earned acclaim at the Montreal Comedy Festival. Demonstrating the ability to spread humor around the world, he also entertained troops in Iraq and Kuwait on 5 occasions.

Nate Bargatze hosted the Saturday Night Live during the 49th Season, featuring the Foo Fighters as the musical guest. The episode showcased 2 Halloween sketches, the amusing "Lake Beach" musical sketch, and a special appearance by SNL Five-Timer Christopher Walken. Notably, the attack achieved a season-high total viewers, reaching 4.9 million!

During his monologue, Bargatze, humorously remarking, "I'm as shocked as you are" about hosting, drew on his two decades of experience delivering jokes. His monologue covered various topics, from his childhood with a magician father to his experiences as a dad, humorously reflecting on age and the future.

"I’m 44. My daughter’s 11. When she’s my age, it’ll be 2057," Bargatze quipped, adding a touch of humor about his potential conversations with someone from the distant future.
