Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion Events

Located on the UW campus in Seattle, Alaska Airlines Arena (still more commonly referred to as Hec Edmundson Pavilion or Hec Ed) has been home to the Washington Huskies basketball teams since 1927 (closing in on 100 years!). The building underwent extensive renovations in 1999 but, with its brick facade and near century of history, still offers the chance to see a game in one of the oldest active arenas in college basketball. The Huskies have been better known for their success on the gridiron than on the hardcourt (after the 1950s, anyway), though recent years have seen the Huskies men’s basketball team reach the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA March Madness postseason tournament on three occasions. Aside from university sports, Hec Edmundson Pavilion has hosted professional men’s and women’s basketball along with other local sporting events.
