Keshi is a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and record producer who was born Casey Thai Luong. He was born in Houston, Texas to immigrant parents from Vietnam. They lived in an Asian American community, but he often felt out of place. He taught himself guitar when watching the characters on Drake & Josh. After getting a nursing degree, he worked in the oncology department for 2 years. His stage name, Keshi, was a childhood nickname from his fiancee’s parents, whom he has known since elementary school. He started a SoundCloud page to share music in 2017 and used YouTube videos to write, produce, and engineer music. He signed with Island Records in 2019, quit nursing, and moved to New York City.
