Golden State Warriors

As the closest that the NBA has had to a modern dynasty, the Golden State Warriors have risen from relative obscurity to become one of the most popular basketball teams in the world. For Golden State Warriors fans who had suffered through so many years of their team struggling just to make the NBA Playoffs, these have been truly golden times. If you had told a Warriors fan in 2000 that one day Warriors jerseys, jackets, and hats would be as common a sight as Lakers merchandise, you would have been laughed out of the room! And yet there is anxiety. With aging stars managing no more than 10th in the Western Conference in 2023-24 followed by a swift Play-In exit at the hands of the Sacramento Kings, is the Warriors dynasty over for good? Don’t miss your chance to find out—get onto TicketX and buy your Golden State Warriors tickets today!

Rival Teams

Nothing excites NBA basketball fans more than when their team faces off against one of their biggest rivals. Here are two of the Golden State Warriors’ most significant rivalries.

Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers

The Golden State Warriorsrivalry with the Cleveland Cavaliers is one of the most incredible basketball rivalries of recent times, with the two teams meeting in an incredible four consecutive NBA Finals between 2015 and 2018. LeBron James and the Cavs took one series, in 2016, but the Warriors prevailed in 2015, 2017, and 2018. LeBron later moved to the Lakers, pouring some extra fuel on that already fiery local rivalry (see below). Being in different conferences, the teams usually just play twice a year (unless they meet in the Finals!) with one game in San Francisco and one game in Cleveland.

Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers

The Golden State Warriors, along with their fellow long-time struggling California NBA teams the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings, were scoffed at by the almighty Los Angeles Lakers for many years, who didn’t even consider them worthy of being considered rivals. That all changed in the 2010s when the Golden State Warriors (led by coach Steve Kerr and the incomparable Steph Curry) suddenly became one of the best teams in recent NBA history (adding to the extant NFL and MLB rivalries between Los Angeles and San Francisco). Warriors fans will gleefully tell you that since 2015 their team has won 5 NBA Championships to the Warriors’ 1, but Lakers fans will point out that they have beaten the Warriors in their last eight straight playoff meetings (including in 2021 and 2023). The Warriors will likely play the Lakers 4 times in the 2024-25 regular season, with the games split between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

When do the 2024-25 NBA Season and Preseason start for the Golden State Warriors?

The NBA preseason generally tips off in early October. The schedule of preseason games should be released some time in mid- to late August. Like all NBA teams, the Golden State Warriors will play 3-5 preseason games at various locations to prepare for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA regular season. Fans should note that some preseason games take place in non-NBA American markets or even overseas in other countries (for example, two NBA preseason games will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE this year). The NBA regular season starts at the end of October and runs until early April.

Why should you buy tickets to Golden State Warriors preseason games?

While preseason games do not count towards any team’s point totals in the NBA regular season, don’t completely write them off! Not only are tickets to preseason games much cheaper, but they also allow you a sneak peek at exciting new draft picks and other young players who might be key additions to the lineup of the Golden State Warriors in the upcoming season. And with tickets at cheaper prices from TicketX, premium seats are also much more affordable for the best possible close up views of all your favorite Golden State Warriors players!

2024-25 NBA Season Predictions

Which Teams Will Go To the 2024-25 NBA Playoffs?

There are 20 teams—10 from the Eastern Conference and 10 from the Western Conference—who make the NBA Playoffs. The eight No. 7-10 seeds have to face two do-or-die Play-In games to advance to the final eight in each conference. The 76ers and Heat won that honor in the East in 2024, with the Lakers and Hornets earning that reality in the West.

But with the Western Conference so competitive, Victor Wenbayama, the Spurs, and the Kings improving, and teams like the young Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves on the upswing, the days of seeing the aging Los Angeles LakersLos Angeles Clippers, and Phoenix Suns in the NBA Playoffs may be quickly approaching.

In the East in the 2024-25 NBA season, we can expect the Celtics, 76ers, Knicks, Bucks, Heat, Cavaliers, Magic, and Pacers back in the Postseason, with the Nets, Hawks, and Bulls fighting it out for the final two Play-in spots.

In the West, Anthony Edwards and the TimberwolvesChet Holmgren and the ThunderNikola Jokić and the Nuggets, and Luka Dončić and the Mavericks are bound to make the Playoffs again. As many as eight or nine teams, including the aforementioned Lakers, Clippers, Suns, Kings, Pelicans, Spurs, improving Rockets, and Steph Curry and the Warriors, are fighting for those final six spots.

Which Two Teams Will Go To the 2025 NBA Finals and Why?

There have been five different NBA champions over the last five seasons—the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, and Denver Nuggets—and with the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers meeting in the 2024 Eastern Conference Finals and the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2024 Western Conference Finals, it means a guaranteed six different champions in six years.

Who might we see in the 2025 NBA Finals? The Celtics have the best starting five in the Eastern Conference: Kristaps Porziņģis, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Jrue Holiday. The C’s will again be the team to beat in the East, especially if Porziņģis can remain injury-free. In the West, it should be a three-team battle between OKC, Minnesota, and Denver, with the new face of the NBA, Edwards, leading his team to the promised land.

2024-25 NBA Finals Prediction: Celtics over Timberwolves, 4-3

Trade Rumors and Draft Picks

After that 10th place finish and early postseason exit in the Play-In this year, the aging Golden State Warriors need to reinvigorate their squad with free agents, new talent from the draft, or trades with other franchises. The 2024 draft might not be the best bet for the Warriors, however, as previous trades have left them without a first round draft pick this year (they pick 52nd!). Apart from some sort of miracle discovery in the later rounds of the draft, acquiring some experienced talent through trades or free agency is probably their best option, with Dorian Finney-Smith (Brooklyn Nets), Jarrett Allen (Cleveland Cavaliers), Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns) all rumored as potential Warriors trade targets. Durant as a Warrior? Now that would be worth getting tickets (from TicketX) to see!
