While the 24-year-old Sabrina Carpenter is now known for her #relatable songs. Her career in the entertainment industry started in 2011 where she landed her first major guest role in Law & Order (SVU). Her real acting journey began with her impressive role as Maya Hart in the popular Disney Channel series Girl Meets World (2014–2017). Because she always was interested in music too, she began her career as a singer-songwriter and left the set. But she never gave up acting.

Sabrina Carpenter signed her first music contract with Hollywood Records in 2014. The first release was the song called "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying" in March of that year. She is referring to her experience in the song: “Now I'm a homewrecker, I'm a slut; I got death threats filling up semi-trucks”
