Born Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz, Rauw Alejandro is a Puerto Rican songwriter, dancer, and singer exceptional in R&B and urban sounds. His journey in music hit the ground running in November 2016 with the release of a maiden album dubbed Punto de Equilibrio.

Ever since debuting his craft under the Under Music Group record label, Alejandro has been in the studio with well-known acts in the urban music fold, such as Álvaro Díaz, Alex Rose, Ozuna, Lunay, Lyanno, and Farruko. So far, his consistency, backed by his North American roots, is paying off big time.

Rauw was born and raised in Puerto Rico, but his family eventually moved to the United States. As such, he spent a reasonable amount of time living in both Canóvanas and Carolina. Growing up, Alejandro was taken much to soccer, dedicating years to mastering the art while studying at Colegio Maria Auxiliadora.

However, his passion for the green pitch was short-lived by a severe injury. In his search for solace and internal healing, he found a haven in music, which became his second passion. For Rauw, music is an outlet for the frustration that followed the truncation of his world-class soccer dreams.

Rauw Alejandro’s Journey to Stardom

Right from adolescence, he was deeply influenced by the taste in music of his parents, whose favorites were the likes of Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. In some of his interviews, he has admitted to also being influenced by pop artists like Chris Brown. This reflects on his knack for dancing, a hobby that contributed to his popularity in the industry.

While his father was a guitarist, his mother was a generational vocalist. Apart from quickly picking up his parents’ skills, he got his musical education while playing for the under-15 Puerto Rico national soccer team.

In 2016, Rauw published ten songs for his debut album, featuring acts like “Dentro de Ti,” “Tu Eres lo Que Quiero,” and “Entrégate a Mí”. The album’s most listened tracks include “Si Me Permites” with Mike Towers and “No Hay Nadie Más” with Álvaro Díaz. During the same year, he also collaborated with Lyanno and Brray and released “Como Nunca” and “Se tú,” respectively.

With Rauw Alejandro’s current music label being Sony Music Latin, it’s hard to believe that his shot at stardom has seen him being in the Latin urban and R&B music scene for only about 7 years. Yet, he has become one of the most promising talents as he joins a hot crop of new-generation artists.

Rauw does one better by occasionally blending genres, giving his music a Latin-reggaeton flair. His Playa Saturno album, which was released in mid-2023, carries this unique style and seems to have garnered significant attention to his range. The record is his best one yet and has drawn numerous positive reviews.

According to various sources, Rauw has sold more records than any other Hispanic star in the past half-decade, amassing a net worth of around $20 million. Some reports say he has earned at least $25 million from his music career, with over $10 million from brand endorsements alone. Rauw’s Mainland America property is worth $3 million.

Alejandro’s first completely sold-out tour was tipped off in July 2021 in the United States. During the campaign, he made stops in Spain and his hometown, where he recorded four sold-out shows. For his subsequent road trip, The Saturno World Tour in 2023 took the world by storm.

The world tour kicked off in February 2023, trailed the corridors of Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Before going to his home base, Alejandro made stops in Central America, and some countries in Europe in the summer. The North American leg started on March 4, 2023 in Tampa, with the grand finale in Seattle on May 6, 2023. The artist visited a total of 16 states

Regarding romantic relationships, Rauw Alejandro is easily connected to Rosalia. Both artists enamored audiences with their love story, becoming a pair that the Latino community hoped would become their Jay-Z and Beyonce trope.

The couple kept their relationship under wraps from 2019 to 2021 and announced their engagement on a collaborative EP in March 2023. Unfortunately, for mixed reasons, they ended their meeting four months later in good faith. Their current love lives are shrouded in speculation.

Rauw once revealed that his next album, which would likely be released in 2024, is in the works. But, he is not in a hurry to share fresh material, as he is said to be taking some time off from the busy schedule he had between 2022 and 2023.
