In 2024, American country sensation Sturgill Simpson dropped his first album as alter ego Johnny Blue Skies, titled Passage du Desir, the eighth studio release from the 46-year-old Jackson, Kentucky native.
Now, Simpson has hit the road on his Who the F**k is Johnnie Blue Skies? 2025 Tour, starting on Thursday, April 5 at the Choctaw Grand Theatre in Durant, Oklahoma before heading to Georgetown, Texas, Birmingham, Alabama, Southaven, Mississippi, Denver, Bozeman, Montana, and Spokane, Washington this April.

US Spring Dates
Sturgill Simpson stays in the West and Southwest later this month, with a concert at the Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley in Berkeley, California (April 24), a performance at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California (April 26), a night at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, in Las Vegas (April 27), and at Mesa Amphitheatre in Mesa, Arizona (April 29).
In May, the Sturgill Simpson Tour heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma (May 2), Independence, Missouri (May 3), Minneapolis (May 6-7), Rosemont, Illinois—Chicago—(May 9), Rochester Hills, Michigan—Detroit—(May 10) and Charlotte, North Carolina (May 13).
Simpson then travels the Southeast and Knoxville, Tennessee (May 16), Alpharetta, Georgia (May 17), Asheville, North Carolina (May 20-21), Charleston, West Virginia (May 23), and Columbia, South Carolina (May 24) at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. US Summer Dates
Sturgill Simpson also has three dates (so far) on the calendar this summer where you can catch him live. He will be performing at the FairWell Festival in Redmond, Oregon on July 19 where he will be headlining on Saturday night after acts like Sierra Ferrell, Koe Wetzel, and Ludacris. Tyler Childers and Dwight Yoakam will be the FairWell Festival headliners on Friday, July 18.
Simpson then returns to the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, South Carolina on Saturday, August 9, but all tickets for that show are sold out so you will have to do some work to find seats.
And on Saturday, September 13, Sturgill Simpson will be at the Bourbon & Beyond festival at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky on Day 3 of the 4-day music extravaganza the same day as Ringo Starr, Jack White, and Third Eye Blind all perform.
Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo (Thursday), The Lumineers (Thursday), Phish (Friday), and the Goo Goo Dolls and Megan Moroney (Sunday) will all also be performing at the Bourbon & Beyond festival.

About Sturgill Simpson
Born John Sturgill Simpson on June 8, 1978, in Jackson, Kentucky, Simpson was the son of a Kentucky State Police trooper while his mother’s family were all coal miners. John became the first male on her side of the family not to have to work in a mine.
The first two of Simpson’s eight studio albums, High Top Monster and Metamodern Sounds in Country Music were released independently in the US and in Europe. Metamodern Sounds in Country Music earned a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album.
His first major label (Atlantic Records) release was in 2016 with A Sailor’s Guide to Earth and it received critical acclaim. The album earned him the Best Country Album nod at the 59th Grammy Awards and was also nominated for Album of the Year.
Simpson has had hits with songs like “Juanita,” “Ronin,” “Long White Line,” and “A Good Look” and does covers from an eclectic mix of musical artists including Prince, Procol Harum, The Allman Brothers, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and Don Williams, among others.
