Bourbon & Beyond

The bourbon-inspired festival, Bourbon & Beyond, is an expression and celebration of America’s native spirit, culinary arts, and music. The festival was established in 2017 and quickly became a standout event in Louisville, Kentucky. The festival is the brainchild of Danny Wimmer of DWP, with the aim of embodying Kentucky’s spirit and culture, bringing together the folk, rock, and country genres paired with expertly planned bourbon experiences. The inaugural event, a collaboration between bourbon authority Fred Minnick and renowned chef Edward Lee, featured over 50 fine Kentucky bourbons and offered attendees immersive experiences in bourbon crafting and culinary arts. High-profile chefs and legendary musicians graced the festival, creating a rich tapestry of Kentucky culture.

Festival Dates: September 15 - September 18

The annual Bourbon & Beyond festival, held in Louisville, Kentucky, has become an event to look forward to for bourbon enthusiasts and music lovers alike. The 2023 edition featured 70 bands and artists alongside 16 bourbon and 11 culinary experiences. Every year brings something new, and 2023 was no exception. The festival had bourbon workshops and tastings featuring celebrities and industry experts.

Fans of the festival speak highly of it for its mix of bluegrass, country, and rock performances surrounded by excellent bourbon and food. Consequence described the atmosphere of the 2023 event as a “boozy playground” with an easy-going vibe and plenty of strong whiskey to enjoy. Though a large-scale event, the festival avoided the usual problems that big events have, giving a smooth experience to all who attended.

There is no event without its challenges. It was highlighted that the festival could use a little more shade or cooling stations as the weather tended to get hot during the event.

Bourbon & Beyond's upcoming 2024 event will feature the same commitment to quality music, bourbon, and food.
