New Orleans Saints

By 2005, the city of New Orleans had already put up with a lot from its hapless NFL football team, the New Orleans Saints. The Saints had long been one of the worst teams in the NFL and things got much, much worse for the football team and the city in 2005 when Mother Nature struck in the form of Hurricane Katrina, which caused all manner of death and destruction. The Saints’ damaged home, the Superdome, was used as an emergency shelter for evacuees and was thus out of commission for the 2005 season, forcing the team to play their home games in Texas and Baton Rouge. The Saints recorded a 3-13 season, though really, it was a miracle that they were able to finish the season at all. Optimism wasn’t understandably low in 2006, but in one of the most inspiring turnarounds in NFL history, Saints fans came out in record numbers, selling out the Superdome with season tickets alone. A blocked punt in the opening game led to a Saints touchdown, setting the tone for the season to come, with the team making the playoffs and progressing to the NFC Championship. In 2009, the Saints finished 13-3 and went on to upset the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 and win Super Bowl XLIV, rising from despair to achieve ultimate glory. Recent years have seen the Saints remain fairly competitive, though they haven’t been to the Playoffs since 2020 (missing out in 2023-24 via tiebreaker). A team, and a city, this resilient surely must bounce back though! Get your New Orleans Saints tickets from TicketX and be there to see it happen!

Rival Teams

Nothing gets NFL football fans all pumped up more than watching their team square off against a massive rival. Here are two of the New Orleans Saints’ most significant rivalries.

New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons

The long rivalry between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons dates back to the 1960s, when the teams were the original two NFL representatives of America’s south coast. Being not very good for the first few decades of their existence, the Saints and Falcons mostly had to content themselves with beating one another, which they have each done (incredibly) exactly 55 times apiece (55-55 all time, heading into 2024-25). The Saints and Falcons will get the chance to renew their age-old feud (and surge ahead in their all time series) in two late season clashes this season: on September 30 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and November 11 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers

The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers have been fierce divisional and regional rivals ever since the Panthers joined the NFL in 1995, coinciding with the rise of the Saints as a competitive team. Carolina held the early edge in head-to-head meetings, but New Orleans has overtaken them, holding a narrow edge in the all-time record between the two teams (31-28). Passions spilled over between the teams in 2014 with a fight in the tunnel after a touchdown. In 2018, the Saints also won the first ever playoff game between the two teams, beating the Panthers 31-26. The Saints and Panthers are set to meet twice in 2024-25: for the season opener on September 9 in New Orleans at Caesars Superdome and on November 11 in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium.

When does the NFL Preseason start for the New Orleans Saints?

The Saints then head to Levi's Stadium in San Francisco on August 18 to take on the 49ers, before coming home to Caesars Superdome in New Orleans to face the Tennessee Titans on August 25 to round out their preseason.

2024-25 NFL Season Predictions

Which Teams Will Go To the 2024-25 NFL Playoffs?

There will be 14 teams that qualify for the Postseason—seven from the AFC and seven from the NFC—and despite an influx of new and talented QBs drafted by teams in the 2024 NFL Draft, expect at least 11 of the same teams in the NFL Playoffs as last season.

So, who are the four that might not make it this time and who didn’t make the Playoffs last year but might in the 2024-25 season? The Buccaneers, Browns, and Steelers may find it harder this time around, with the Falcons, Bengals, and Jets possibly making the Wild Card round.

Last season, the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers met in the NFC Championship Game, and the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs collided in the AFC Championship Game, with the 49ers meeting the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

Expect those four heavyweights, along with the Packers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Rams in the NFC and the Texans and Bills in the AFC, to make it back to the NFL Playoffs next season.

Which Two Teams Will Go To Super Bowl LIX and Why?

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be seeking their third straight Super Bowl win. With genius Head Coach Andy Reid, TE Travis Kelce, and a much-improved defense, they are the best team in the AFC and have lofty expectations. The Lions had the Niners on the ropes last year and have steadily improved the last two seasons. They are eyeballing a shot at the Super Bowl and have the skill position players and chip on their shoulders.

So Jared Goff and Detroit (12/1 to win the Super Bowl, DraftKings) could meet the best player in the NFL—Mahomes—and his Chiefs (+550) in Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Trade Rumors and Draft Picks

After frustratingly missing the postseason in 2023-24 on a tiebreaker, the New Orleans Saints will be looking to bolster their roster with free agents, new talent from the draft, and trades with other franchises for the upcoming season. As their 1st round draft pick in 2024, the Saints selected Taliese Fuaga (OT) whom they hope will help to add some protection and power to their offense. The Saints may also look to the trade or to free agency as a way to add depth, with rumored trade targets including Hunter Renfrow (WR) of the Las Vegas Raiders, Kenny Clark (DT) of the Green Bay Packers, and Brandin Cooks (WR) of the Dallas Cowboys.

Caesars Superdome

In 2005, the Louisiana Superdome (now the Caesars Superdome) appeared on television screens nationwide not as a football stadium, but as an emergency evacuation center. Like the city, the stadium took a battering during the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, forcing the New Orleans Saints to play their home games that season in San Antonio and Baton rouge. Remarkably, the Superdome was fixed and rebuilt in time for the 2006 season and was embraced by locals as a symbol of the city’s rejuvenation after so much tragedy and loss. The fans got their reward in 2009 when the Saints brough home Super Bowl XLIV to New Orleans, bringing the whole city out into the streets to celebrate. Not that Saints fans need an excuse to party, as locals love nothing more than gathering together many hours before kickoff to eat, drink, and socialize with some tailgating. Visitors will find the variety of food on the menu at Caesars Superdome very interesting indeed, with ballpark classics like ribs, burgers, and popcorn alongside special local dishes such as alligator jambalaya, burnt ends brisket sandwiches, and cajun chicken. Little Caesars pizza is available too, of course.

How to get to Caesars Superdome

It is technically possible to get to Caesars Superdome using local public buses, but not necessarily easy, convenient, or safe). A taxi or a rideshare to the stadium might be a better option if you don’t have your own wheels. Most people prefer to drive or take a taxi to Caesars Superdome in their own vehicles. Just be conscious of game day traffic and plan to arrive at the venue early. There are seven parking garages and two open-air parking lots on site at Caesars Superdome, but it is still best to reserve prepaid parking in advance to avoid the frustration of searching for a spot. Visit Caesars Superdome’s official website for maps, driving directions, and detailed parking instructions.

Caesars Superdome Bag Policy

The Caesars Superdome bag policy states that visitors are allowed to bring in only clear bags (maximum size: 12" x 6" x 12") and clutch bags (maximum size: 4.5" x 6.5").

Caesars Superdome Rules

Caesars Superdome has an extensive list of rules meant to ensure a safe and fun day for all at the venue. Most of them are common sense, but a few of the most important rules to remember are:

  • Prohibited Items - leave your bats, beach balls, cans, containers, glass receptacles, weapons, laser pointers, noisemakers, selfie sticks, and whistles at home (check A-Z guide page for a full list).

  • Conduct fighting, profane language, offensive clothing, verbal threats, obscene gestures, and other dangerous or offensive behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Strollers strollers are permitted inside the venue. They can be stored under your seat if they do not impede other guests; otherwise, they must be checked in at Guest Relations.

  • Smoking - the stadium is a completely non-smoking facility, inside and outside (including vapes, e-cigarettes, and other similar devices).

Visit the stadium’s A-Z guide page for a full list of rules at Caesars Superdome.

Visitors looking for a more exclusive experience can opt for premium areas such as luxury suites and VIP rooms, while those who enjoy being part of the crowd as it cheers on the home team will find plenty of general seating on the stadium’s three levels, with prices more or less rising as you move upward from the field.
