In 2005, the Louisiana Superdome (now the Caesars Superdome) appeared on television screens nationwide and around the world not as a football stadium, but as an emergency evacuation center where so many residents of New Orleans sought refuge when they had nowhere else to go after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The stadium itself took a battering in the storm, forcing the New Orleans Saints to play their home games in San Antonio.
