Behind The Mic: Who Is Los Temerarios?

Back in the 1960s, from Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, two brothers - Adolfo (born in 1963) and Gustavo Ángel Alba (born in 1968) were initially introduced to the music industry in the late 1970s. It all began after their dad rented a room in their home to a neighborhood band needing a space to practice. As for Adolfo and Alba, this became the key to their musical journey.

Once the band was done with rehearsals, the two brothers would sneak in and rehearse random songs. They started as a small local band named La Brisa in 1977, performing at small stages and events. They later brought their cousin, Fernando Angel, into the band along with several instrumentalists.

Six years later, the two brothers landed a record deal with CBS Mexico and changed their name to what it is now - “Los Temerarios.” Meanwhile, it was only in the late '80s, when the Monterrey-based independent Dish signed them, that the band started making much of an impression.

The band soon became known for releasing the best contemporary love songs. Throughout the 1990s, the romantic soundtrack of millions of Mexican and Mexican-American youngsters was provided by Los Temerarios' bubblegum ranchera.

Over the years, they have produced over 20 albums and received several awards. They even put up a staggering number of over 16 titles in the Top 200 and often reached the top of the Latin and Mexican Regional Music charts. However, the band's success was never confined to record sales; they built a devoted fan base through popular hit singles and albums.

In addition to their fame, this band has journeyed worldwide, shutting down the most significant stages, including Sports Arena. That was the stage where they became the only musical acts to fill the arena alongside Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson.

They were also nominated for five Billboard awards in the Latin categories before winning a Latin Grammy and being inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2016. Today, they are on a final tour (The Hasta Siempre Tour), marking the end of over 40 years on stage.
