TobyMac, full name Kevin Michael “Toby” McKeehan, is a rapper, singer, record producer, and songwriter. He travels with his road band, Diverse City, and is one of the most influential Christian artists of all time. He rose to fame with the Christian rap-rock group DCTalk in the 80s. He was with the group from 1987 to 2000, at which time he took on a solo career. TobyMac has released 10 albums, 5 remixes, and multiple singles. He is only the third Christian artist to have an album debut in the number one spot on the Billboard Charts. Between work with DCTalk and as a solo artist, he has won seven Grammy awards and has sold 10 million albums. TobyMac founded DCTalk at Liberty University in 1987 with his friend Michael Tate. They recruited their classmate Kevin Max Smith, and the trio got signed and released an album in 1989. Their biggest release, Jesus Freak, went multi-platinum.
